Information we collect

When you use Search That Song, we collect:

• Search queries. The lyrics, fragments, and descriptions you type so we can return matches and improve our matching algorithm.
• Approximate location. We resolve your IP address to a country and city using a third-party geolocation service so we can power region-based charts. We do not store the raw IP indefinitely or use it to identify you personally.
• Usage analytics. Page views, referrers, device type, and browser via Google Analytics (tag G-XRTRX7PSNL).
• Account data (optional). If you sign in with Spotify or another supported service to save a playlist, we store the OAuth token associated with that integration only for the duration of the session.

How we use information

• To return relevant search results and improve future matches.
• To produce aggregate, anonymous charts (for example, top searched songs this week).
• To detect abuse and rate-limit automated traffic.
• To understand which features get used so we can prioritise improvements.

We do not sell personal data. We do not run ad-tech remarketing audiences. We do not share individual queries with third parties.

Cookies and similar technologies

Search That Song uses cookies and local storage for keeping you logged in to optional integrations, remembering UI preferences, and Google Analytics measurement. You can clear or block cookies in your browser. The site will still work, though some preferences will reset.

Advertising

Search That Song participates in Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. • LRCLIB for lyric data.

• Google Analytics and Google AdSense for measurement and advertising.
• ipdata.co for IP-to-country resolution.

Data retention

Search queries and aggregate analytics are retained indefinitely in anonymous form. Identifiable session data such as OAuth tokens is purged at session end. You can request deletion of any data tied to you by contacting us.

Your rights

If you're in the EU, UK, California, or any jurisdiction with data-protection rights, you have the right to request access to or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Email us via the contact page and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Search That Song is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, post a notice on the site.
